Study Guide for Unit 1: Lessons #1-2

proceed- to come forth; the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son

shamrock- St. Patrick used a shamrock to teach the people of Ireland about the Trinity.

Trinity- Christian belief revealed to us by God that He is three Persons in One God:  God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

mystery- a truth about God that we can come to know only with God’s help

The Sign of the Cross – a simple prayer we say to bless ourselves in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Religion- Scripture Memorization Unit 1

Practice memorizing the following Bible verses.   

•  This is how you are to pray:  Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.

                              –Matthew 6:9

•  Therefore, you shall love the LORD, your God, with your whole heart, and with your whole being, and with your whole strength.

                                     –Deuteronomy 6:5

Students are going to be working on memorizing this Fall poem. Please try to help them learn to recite it by practicing it at home. It will be sent home on Tuesday, September 13th.

After checking with the third grade teachers, it has been determined that the students will need one additional composition notebook for Latin class.  I will provide a notebook for the students for ELA class.  I believe that 2 notebooks were listed on the supply list for the lower school, so these can be used for Math and History.  Also, they will need a yellow highlighter for Science class if they do not already have one.
